Our Drama Teacher

 In life, we meet many teachers. As time passes, we tend to forget some of them. Yet there are a few who remain in our hearts forever, leaving a mark that time can never erase. In my life, there is such a teacher.

He is, at times, an actor who breathes life into characters on stage and screen, and at other times, a teacher who inspires young minds inside a classroom. A man of remarkable talent, passion, and dedication.

He was the person who first encouraged me to move toward the dream I truly loved. The subject I study today, the path I follow, and the passion I hold for it - were all guided and shaped by him. He is a teacher of drama and performing arts, but what he gave us went far beyond the boundaries of a subject.

As an actor, he is widely recognized and admired across Sri Lanka. His performances in the television dramas Haara Kotiya and Kotipathiyo became important turning points in his artistic journey, earning him admiration and popularity among audiences.

Yet to me, he is not only a famous actor. To me, he is a teacher who showed me how to dream and more importantly, how to pursue those dreams with courage.

Just yesterday, I had the chance to meet him again. He welcomed us with the same kindness and humility that always defined him as a teacher. In his lessons, he never taught us only about drama or acting. He taught us about life itself about discipline, passion, confidence, and the courage to follow our own paths. Those lessons remain some of the most valuable gifts we have received.

Some teachers simply complete a syllabus. But a few extraordinary teachers shape the lives of their students. In my life, he is one of those rare teachers.

His name is Rohan Wijethunga.

And even today, I believe that a true teacher is not someone who merely teaches a subject, but someone who plants a dream in the hearts of their students. He was the one who planted that dream in mine.
