THE ELEPHANT

Image
The elephant is my favorite animal in my life.  I feel a special connection to its majestic appearance.  Whenever I see an elephant , I feel a deep sense of respect and love.  Its strength and calm nature attract me very much. I like the way elephants live in groups and help one another.  I feel happy when I see how they protect their babies.  The importance of elephants in our culture also gives me a sense of pride.  Since elephants are known to be very intelligent animals , I like to learn more about them .  Seeing an elephant living freely in the wild helps me understand the value of freedom.  Therefore , I feel that protecting elephants is our responsibility.

FLOOD DISASTER

Image
A flood is one of the most common and destructive natural disaster in the world. It occurs when a large amount of water covers land that is usually dry. In countries like Sri Lanka , floods happen mainly due to heavy rainfall , overflowing rivers , broken tanks and canals , and poor drainage systems.  Human activities such as deforestation , unplanned construction , and blocking waterways have made flood situations worse than before. Floods  cause severe damage to human life , property and the environment. Houses , roads , schools and agricultural lands are often submerged in water. Many people lose their homes and are forced to live in temporary shelters. Farmers suffer greatly because their crops are destroyed , which leads to flood shortages and financial loss. In addition , floods contaminate drinking water and increase the risk of spreading diseases such as dengue and leptospirosis. One of the biggest dangers during floods is electricity. When electric power lines c...

A Shelter of Comfort for Those Searching for Peace - Wattpad

Image
Every human being is searching for peace. Some find it in music, some in people and some - between words. That quiet place of comfort exists in Wattpad . Daily stress, loneliness, overthinking - for a little while, Wattpad lets you step outside your own life and live inside someone else's story. And that in its own way is healing. For writers, Wattpad is more than a platform. It becomes a diary, a confession room, a place where emotions turn into words. Pain, love, anger, longing - when they are written down, the heart feels lighter. For readers, Wattpad is a reminder that someone else feels the same way they do. When a character thinks what you once thought, when a line sounds like your own hidden feelings, you realize you are not alone. And that is comfort. The world may not notice it, but every night thousands of people open Wattpad not just to read stories - but to breathe., It is not just social media. It is an emotional home.

A Rainy Day In Ratnapura; Coffee, A Book and Quiet Moments

Image
Ratnapura is not just a city to me. It is home. And when it rains, my love for it grows even deeper. Raindrops tapping on the window, the distant sound of the river, the cool, earthy smell in the air - everything comes together to create a quiet kind of peace.   On rainy days, I dont need much. All I want is a book I truly love and a warm cup of coffee in my hands. As the steam rises from the cup, its warmth perfectly balances the chill in the air. With every sip, I slowly disappear in to the world inside my book. Sometimes, I dont even read. I just listen to the rain's sound, leave the book open beside me, hold my coffee close and drift into a soft, comfortable nap. On days like this, the whole world feels slower. There is no rush. No pressure. Just me, the rain and Ratnapura. Moments like these remind me that happiness  is not something big or complicated. A rainy day, A good book, A cup of coffee and a peaceful nap - that is more than enough.

MY FAVORITE SONG

Image
One thing I do often is listen to music. For me, music isn't just a simple pastime. It's a a way to soothe my mind, a world where my thoughts can rest. Specially when I listen to songs that calm the soul , all the sadness, heaviness and silent pain in my heart slowly fade away, as if they never existed. I have a deep love for old songs. I enjoy new songs too , and they have their charm. But my heart always gravitates toward the old ones - they hold a depth , a timeless truth that resonates differently.  When it's raining, with a cup of coffee in hand, listening to music - it's feeling words can hardly capture. In that moment , my mind becomes completely quiet. It's not just simple pleasure. It's an aesthetic feeling, where life's chaos fades away and everythinf aligns in a single , serene instant. Among all the songs I love , one stands out above the rest - Nirosha Virajini's "Oba Giyama Duka Mata Dee."   I first discovered this song throug...

CUP OF TEA

Image
I really love drinking tea. In the morning , in the evening , or during those quiet moments when my mind slows down - a cup of tea feels essential to me. But some people say tea isn't good for you. Others say that if you drink it the right way , tea is actually good. When you really look at it, "tea" isn't just one thing. There are black tea , green tea , herbal tea.. so many kinds. And each one has its oen story.  When I drink tea, it feels like the world pauses for a moment. With the warmth rising from the cup , my mind softens too. Big thoughts don't come then. Only small ones. How the day went. Things I can't explain. Things I don 't feel the need to say.  Some people say tea isn't good. But to me , tea isn't just a drink.  It is a small pause. A kind of freedom for the mind. These are the kinds of thoughts that come yto me - when I'm holding a cup of tea.
